Full-Time Coating and Finishing Line Operator

Willow Tex, LLC is seeking a full-time Coating and Finishing Line Operator in our Mount Airy, North Carolina manufacturing facility at 501 Piedmont Triad West Drive. Willow Tex manufactures and distributes high-quality, synthetic leather, specifically engineered to exacting quality standards. The company owns the trademark rights to IZIT Leather and the multiple product lines branded IZIT. These synthetic leather products are known for their durability, flammability performance, leather-like appearance and suppleness and are sold to the following markets and more:

  • Contract design
  • Marine
  • Aviation
  • Automotive
  • Rail Car

Schedule: Normal working hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with overtime and schedule changes required as necessary to meet production demands.

Job Summary: The Coating and Finishing Line Operator performs tasks involved in the production of Willow Tex LLC’s products; meets Company and customer standards; follow standard work methods, and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. The Coating and Finishing Line Operator is expected to be available to work in all areas of production.


  • Follow setup procedures for equipment
  • Follow work instructions for operation of production equipment
  • Understand customer and company quality expectations and apply consistently
  • Read and interpret gauges
  • Record data
  • Control mechanical processes, optimal temperatures, speeds, and settings on production equipment
  • Work with all chemicals, pigments, and any other products used in process line, following applicable safety procedures
  • Use winder/unwinder in a finishing setting for rolled goods
  • Sew backcloth together using production machine sewing
  • Verify correct raw materials are queued up and ready to process
  • Operate forklift
  • Material handling, which could include moving materials manually or with equipment such as forklifts; checking for damaged goods and quality of order; delivering and retrieving supplies to and from work or storage areas.
  • Follow inventory procedures
  • Follow all Company rules and policies
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Verify all test results’ accuracy before posting any information, including sample runs
  • Maintain clean and safe work area
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION – To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Minimum education of High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
  • Basic reading skills
  • Basic computer skills, including accessing information on a computer
  • Mechanical aptitude required
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow work instructions and procedures
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Exceptional attendance and work ethic required
  • Previous textile manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience in web-coating operations preferred
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA and other regulations of safe practices preferred


  • Capable of frequently lifting or moving 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and/or walk continuously throughout an 8-hour shift
  • In addition to standing and walking, the frequent physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination, and feeling.


  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts and working with chemicals.
  • Requires the usage of personal protective equipment which includes gloves, safety glasses, and may involve protective clothing up to and including a respirator at times
