Full-Time Material Handler

Willow Tex, LLC is seeking a full-time Material Handler in our Mount Airy, North Carolina manufacturing facility at 501 Piedmont Triad West Drive. Willow Tex manufactures and distributes high-quality, synthetic leather, specifically engineered to exacting quality standards. The company owns the trademark rights to IZIT Leather and the multiple product lines branded IZIT. IZIT Leather products are known for their durability, flammability performance, leather-like appearance, and suppleness.

JOB SUMMARY: The Material Handler works under the supervision of the QC/QA Manager and has primary responsibility for the packaging of finished rolls and pallets, ensuring rolls are labeled correctly and palletized according to the customer’s instructions, and assisting with the processing and shipment of orders. Secondary responsibilities include assisting the Buyer/Planner Specialist in the receipt, validation, and storage of incoming raw materials, finished goods, components and parts, and organizing and maintaining the warehouse.

Schedule – Normal working hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a half-hour lunch. Overtime and schedule changes may be required when necessary to meet production demands.

Pay Range: $11.00 – $12.50 Depending on experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary:

  • Assist Quality Inspection Associate and Shipping Clerk in packaging and staging and palletizing product for shipment, according to customer’s instructions
  • Stage materials for inspection
  • Mark and/or tag materials, and store in appropriate area based on inspection results and in accordance with Company procedure
  • Responsible for Work Order completion, ensuring all parts of work orders are collected and returned to accounting
  • Operate a forklift and pallet jack safely, taking extra care with  heavy and awkward loads
  • Estimate the weight of forklift loads so that the delivery vehicles are properly loaded and are not overweight
  • Perform daily administrative tasks such as maintaining accurate inventory records, information files, and processing and filing paperwork in a timely manner
  • Follow all Company policies, safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Assist in other work areas when necessary

Secondary:

  • Assist Buyer/Planner Specialist in  receiving raw materials, parts and components, and incoming finished products, and unloading incoming trucks both manually or with equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, when needed
  • Ensure good security processes are followed with regard to the driver and visitor sign in procedure
  • Verify and document accuracy of shipment, note any visible defects and damage on the bill of lading or packing slip, and photograph damage prior to unloading and storing in incoming hold area
  • Notify appropriate personnel of any items requiring testing, following internal work instructions for receiving materials,  marking and moving to appropriate location as specified
  • Assist with raw material and finished inventory counts and updates
  • Notify Buyer/Planner Specialist of all inventory discrepancies
  • Assist Buyer/Planner Specialist in organizing and maintaining the warehouse for effective and efficient utilization of available storage space, while also ensuring that all products can be quickly retrieved for shipment

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

Required:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and 1 year warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory experience; or 3+ years warehouse, shipping, receiving, and inventory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift
  • Conscientious attitude toward quality of work
  • Dependable with excellent attendance
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to accurately input data
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions accurately
  • Ability to accurately complete basic arithmetic computations sufficient for performance of duties

  • Maintain a proactive and positive attitude
  • Work well in a team environment

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
